CCI’s Board of Trustees enacts exemption clause that extends CCI's existing exam qualifications to students enrolled in non-programmatically accredited cardiovascular technology or cardiac and vascular sonography programs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CCI’s Board of Trustees enacts exemption clause that extends CCI's existing exam qualifications to students enrolled in non-programmatically accredited cardiovascular technology or cardiac and vascular sonography programs with a start date prior to September 1, 2013.

Raleigh, NC - August 30, 2012

On July 23, 2012, the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Board of Trustees announced changes to the qualification pathways for five of CCI's registry-level credentialing programs. These changes are scheduled to go into effect July 1, 2013.

After careful consideration of feedback received from college and program officials, the CCI Board of Trustees has approved an exemption clause for students who could be negatively impacted by the July 1, 2013 deadline.

Therefore, students enrolled in non-programmatically accredited cardiovascular technology or cardiac and vascular sonography programs with a start date prior to September 1, 2013 will apply for their specific registry examinations under the current qualification pathways.

This exemption clause affects students applying for the following CCI credentialing programs:

* Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

* Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)

* Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)

* Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)

* Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS).

The staff at CCI headquarters is available to answer any questions about these changes and can be reached at 1-800-326-0268, or you may visit www.cci-online.org for the latest information.
