As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact many communities, Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation based on the advice provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO)


Test Administration Resumes on April 16, 2020


Preserving the pipeline of cardiovascular professionals during this pandemic is essential and vital to the public health. Therefore, CCI’s testing administrator, Pearson VUE, has re-opened a limited number of test centers to be able to deliver exams to candidates who are essential medical service providers. CCI testing will resume on April 16, 2020 at a limited number of U.S. and Canada-based Pearson Professional Centers (PPCs).

Pearson VUE Health and Safety Measures


Per the recommendations from global health organizations, Pearson VUE has implemented, or is in the process of implementing, additional distancing measures within all Pearson VUE-owned testing centers.


Pearson VUE will continue to:

·       Make hand sanitizer available in the waiting area and prior to entering the testing room

·       Increase cleaning and disinfecting regimens in between all testing appointments

·       Provide tissues to candidates upon arrival at the test center

·       Permit candidates to wear a mask or disposable gloves if they choose

·       Remind candidates to wash their hands or utilize hand sanitizer upon arrival at the test center.

Test Center Availability

Keep in mind that Pearson VUE is taking many precautions, including additional distancing measures, which may limit test center availability. Please note that only test centers that are open will appear during the scheduling process. You may find less availability than usual. Tip:  Search for alternate testing dates or for test centers further away from your zip code. 


Exam Candidates with a scheduled test date between April 17 and April 30


Refer to your email from Pearson VUE with the subject line “IMPORTANT: Your Pearson VUE testing appointment” which contains instructions for rescheduling. Tip:  Search for alternate testing dates or for test centers further away from your zip code. 


Exam Candidates with a scheduled test date after May 1


Your exam appointment will proceed as scheduled unless you receive an email cancellation from Pearson VUE.   


Exam Candidates with Authorizations to Test (ATT) not yet scheduled


Follow the instructions in your ATT to schedule your exam. If your eligibility window will expire before you can get a test date, submit an ATT Extension Request through your CCI online profile.   


Exam Applicants Not Yet Approved


CCI is accepting the submission of examination applications, supporting documentation, and examination fees. Once an applicant has completed the approval process, individuals will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) via email. Be sure to read the CCI Applicant Handbook for all processes and procedures.


Cancellations and Extension Requests


There may be instances where test appointments need to be cancelled or rescheduled.  


If this happens, you have two options: 

1.    You can reschedule for a later date through Pearson VUE.  

2.    Or you can extend your Authorization to Test window.  To extend your authorization to test visit and log in to your CCI online profile and under MY ACCOUNT select ATT EXTENSION REQUEST. From there you will see your exam. Be sure to select the “Request Extension to Sit for Exam”. To receive an extension, you cannot have a scheduled appointment with Pearson. 

If you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms, such as fever and/or respiratory difficulties, on the day of the exam:  
Do not sit for your exam. If you miss your appointment due to illness, please review the absentee policy for emergency circumstances, which includes information about requesting an extension or cancellation (with refund).
