The Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) examination is designed to create a career track for sonographers who practice at an advanced level in the echocardiography laboratory. The ACS is committed to improving lab quality and efficiency through preparing preliminary echo assessments; performing advanced echocardiograms; mentoring fellows, students, residents, and staff; developing and implementing educational plans; facilitating continuous quality improvement; and coordinating cardiac ultrasound research.
This computer-based exam is administered at Pearson Professional Centers.
Each Spring CCI hosts the Cardiovascular Educators’ Forum. Educators from invasive cardiovascular technology, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and electrophysiology programs across the United States and Canada are invited to participate.

Pavankumar Venkatesan
Pavankumar Venkatesan is striving to become an expert in the field of invasive cardiology. He obtained his Bachelor’s in Cardiac technology in Tamil Nadu, India, and is now a graduate student in the Cardiac Specialist program at Weber State University.
Pavankumar will use his grant funds to attend CTO Plus: Complex CTO and Higher Risk PCI, where he will be able to learn about the newest developments in the treatment of CTO Cases and watch complex procedures performed live. He will also be attending the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Symposium where he will witness the presentation of various evidence-based research studies and gain insights into recent developments in the field of invasive cardiology.

Ricky Dormon
An aspiring Cardiac Sonographer, Ricky Dorman will use his grant funds to attend ASE 2023: Foundations and the Future of Cardiatric Ultrasound. The Annual ASE Scientific Sessions attract echo enthusiasts from over 45 countries, providing Ricky with the opportunity to network with and learn from some of the profession’s foremost thought leaders.
Ricky graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology-Pre Med. Currently, he is enrolled in the Cardiac Ultrasound program at Duke University School of Medicine.
