As a globally recognized, high-quality provider of credentialing programs for cardiovascular professionals (nurses, advanced practice providers, allied health professionals, technologists), CCI administers programs to demonstrate the specialized knowledge and skills necessary for various cardiovascular professions.

Once your application to take the exam is submitted, processing requires a minimum of 15-20 business days. Incomplete or incorrect documentation may extend this timeframe.

Pre-Application Policy About Criminal Matters
If you have been convicted, pled guilty, or pleaded no contest for an offense that is classified as a misdemeanor or felony, or if you have questions regarding personal criminal matters, you may request a pre-application of criminal matters to determine whether you qualify for the CCI credentialing process. Pre-application requests must be made by the applicant. Pre-application requests will not be accepted from any third party, including but not limited to educational programs.

A $50.00 USD fee is required at the time of Pre-Application, and this fee is non-refundable.

CCI reserves the right to deny an application, revoke the eligibility of a candidate, or take action against any registrant who has been convicted, pled guilty, or pled nolo contendere (no contest) to an offense that is classified as a misdemeanor or felony, which is directly or indirectly related to patient care or public health. Crimes that may directly or indirectly relate to patient care or public health include, but are not limited to: murder; attempted murder; manslaughter; rape; attempted rape; sexual assault; sexual abuse; assault; driving while intoxicated or impaired; controlled substance abuse; and fraudulently altering medical documentation, insurance claims, and medical prescriptions.

Exam Application Process and Steps

1. Start your journey to a credentialing in your MyAccount.CCI portal

2. Select your application exam type

  • Go to the section titled “Apply for New Certifications” and select the application exam for which you are applying. If you are not sure which application type to select, use our qualification pathway tool, located on each credential page. 
  • Once you select the pathway, you will be asked if you have criminal matters to disclose.  If you do not (or have already disclosed to CCI), check “No” then select the Application Fee.  If you have been convicted, pled guilty, or pleaded no contest for an offense that is classified as a misdemeanor or felony, or if you have questions regarding personal criminal matters, you may request pre-application of criminal matters to determine whether you qualify for the CCI credentialing process.

3. Complete and upload all required information

  • You may need the following information to complete the application: personal, work, or educational experience, educational/training program(s); verification letter from your employer/educator(s), and payment information. Find our supporting documents guide here!

4. Review and pay

  • Confirm the application summary by “adding to cart”, then complete the checkout process by paying your examination fee
  • Fees may be made by check, money order, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or VISA. Cash is not accepted.
  • If you are paying using a credit card, proceed to checkout
  • If you are paying using a check or money order (school or organization paying)
    • Click My Orders in the top menu
    • Locate and copy your Order ID. This ID should be referenced on the check.
    • Share the Order ID with your school or organization’s payment coordinator
    • Log out of your account
    • CCI will generate a receipt once your organization submits payment.
  • All expenses related to the examinations are the responsibility of the applicant/payer.

5. Submit and await approval

  • Application reviews typically take up to 15 business days.
  • You will be sent an Authorization to Test (ATT) email within 24 hours after your application has been approved.
  • Once you receive your (ATT), your 90-day eligibility window to take the examination is open.
    • The ATT email will provide instructions and details for scheduling your test date and location. Important: The first and last name on your currently issued IDs must exactly match the first and last name that appear on your ATT notification.

6. Schedule to take the exam

It is recommended that you schedule your appointment online. Log in to your CCI portal (myaccount.cci.org). Navigate to “Submitted Certification Applications” and click on the link titled: “Go To Pearson VUE Dashboard”.

  • Available sites will populate based on the address connected to your account. Sites may also be viewed at www.pearsonvue.com/cci.
  • To reschedule your examination, log into the Pearson VUE dashboard through your MyCCI portal at least two full business days before your scheduled appointment. If you need to contact Pearson VUE directly, call 1-312-312-5309 between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday.

CCI will provide, upon approved request, reasonable accommodations, including auxiliary aids and services necessary to afford an individual with a documented disability an equal opportunity to participate in all services, programs, and activities. To request special accommodations, please provide an original letter signed by the applicant and an evaluator (qualified psychologist, physician, or other health care professional) who specializes in the stated disability. This letter should include the following:

  1. The specific diagnosed disability
  2. The specific functional limitations
  3. Impact of the functional limitations on the individual’s ability to participate in the testing activity
  4. What accommodations or assistive devices, if any, would cancel or ease the impact of the disability on the candidate’s ability to participate in the examination process

Additional documentation required for accommodations requests:

  1. Verification of the evaluator, psychologist, physician, or health care professional’s credentials and specialty in the diagnosis of the stated disability.
  2. Examples, when possible, of where special accommodations have been requested and granted. If no prior accommodations have been provided, the evaluator, psychologist, physician, or health care professional should include a detailed explanation as to why no accommodations were given in the past and why accommodations are needed now.

REQUESTS FOR SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS AND THE REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH EACH APPLICATION, INCLUDING RE-EXAMINATIONS. CCI reserves the right to request additional documentation.
